Welcome to Iford - a timeless sanctuary

Iford is a family story, shaped over the centuries by the generations of the many different families who have lived and worked here. Little has changed since the Domesday Book, where animals grazed the pastures alongside a Mill and Farmhouse, not dissimilar to what we find today.

We hope those visiting Iford leave inspired, recharged and reconnected with nature. Stories of Iford’s long history can be found in the architecture of the walls, buildings & antiquities, whilst the trees whisper with conversations of centuries past. Whether staying with us, walking the valley footpaths, discovering the unique beauty of the garden or dining in our restaurant or café, Iford is a place to go slow and let yourself be immersed into another world.

We are fortunate to be the current custodians of this special place and able to call Iford our home. We delight in sharing Iford with you and personally welcoming you when you visit.” - William & Marianne Cartwright-Hignett

Kindly keep to the footpaths and dogs on leads in the fields to help protect the wider biodiversity in the valley. This means you won’t tread on unassuming wild flowers or dung beetles, nor disturb our beavers, otters & other rare wildlife that live here.

With our restaurant & café both open year-round, and over 3 miles of footpaths running through the Estate, there is always something to enjoy at Iford, even when our gardens are closed.
